Best Apartment Dogs

Moving into an apartment? Already live in an apartment? Wondering what dog would make the best roommate? On this episode of Talkin’ Dogs, we’re going pick up from the last video and tell you some more great dogs for apartment living.

Bichon Frise

A small breed like a bichon frise shouldn’t be surprising. They only reach around 9-12 inches in height, and their weight falls between 7-12 pounds. They are outgoing and personable dogs who love to be around people, children, and other dogs. Bichon frise is also hypoallergenic, so they’re great if you or your roommate has allergies.

Pugs

Known to be a little mischievous but still loving, pugs make a wonderful apartment roommate. Pugs have a homebody nature and love snacks. They’re known as “a lot in a small package.” Keep in mind, though, that pugs have breathing problems and will snore and snort. (but so does my dad and my mom still keeps him around.)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

A lap dog who loves to cuddle? Sounds like a great fit for an apartment! These happy dogs greet guests with great joy but they aren’t hyper dogs and are naturally well behaved. Small homes are a great fit for them because they are very attached to their owner and don’t like being alone.

Beagle

Beagles are a great size for apartments and need very little grooming. They love hanging out inside with their people but also love a fun day at the park. While they are playful and have a curious nature, they don’t particularly like to be left alone. Be aware that they like to use their loud voice to let you know when they’re unhappy. So this could lead to complaints from your neighbors, but with proper training, your beagle can learn to use his “inside voice.”
