What is CKC?
Our Story
Our story began as an idea among several dedicated, enthusiastic dog breeders to create a new kennel club that could handle the changing canine registration needs of breeders and dog owners alike.
In 1991, a group of dog enthusiasts founded the Continental Kennel Club (CKC) to offer a breeder-friendly, affordable, and efficient registration service for dog owners. George Fontenot, the visionary behind CKC, aimed to create an inclusive organization, contrasting the elitist existing dog registration bodies. CKC introduced a unique registration system, offering free online litter registration and discounted fees for breeders, ensuring fast processing times. The club was incorporated in 1993 with George as President and Mike Roy as Vice President.
Our Values
Service
CKC strives to deliver excellent customer service to all of our breeders and dog owners. We pride ourselves in having live operators, never computers, to help you with any need.
Puppies First
We believe in giving every puppy a chance at identity, love, and having an amazing life. By recognizing 400+ breeds and registering new dogs every day, we strengthen the bloodlines and improve the health of all of our puppies.
Education
Educating breeders and dog owners is one of our number one priorities. Through expert-written blogs, guided videos, and our official CCTP Curriculum, we bring knowledge on dogs to the greater world.
Openness
Being fair, transparent, and honest is one of the core values that CKC was founded on. Becoming a better registry for all dog owners requires these values, and we are always looking for ways to achieve them.
Our Goals
To educate potential owners about the lifelong commitment of owning a dog.
To work with dog breeders to establish healthy and sustainable breeding programs.
To share with everyone the extraordinary and rewarding experience of owning a dog.
To provide happy, healthy puppies with a forever home where they are loved, cherished, and properly cared for.
To provide dog owners with the education, training, tips, and advice they need in every phase of their dog’s life.
To change the way canines are perceived by our culture and communities.
