Sit for Friendly Greeting

Sit For Friendly Greeting

Teaching your puppy to sit for a greeting enforces friendly manners when meeting or greeting a person. A full-grown dog jumping all over a new person is a recipe for disaster and embarrassment. So teaching your dog to sit and wait for attention is a great way to ensure that you, your pup, and your guests all start off on the right foot (or paw).

Most puppies will catch on rather quickly because they love human interaction, but don't be discouraged if yours doesn't catch on right away. Just make sure you enforce the training and expose your puppy to new surroundings by moving training sessions to new locations once they grasp the concept!

The Go Place Command

Go Place Command

For this session, you'll need plenty of treats and a dog bed, blanket, or mat.

This command works well if your puppy gets too excited around strangers or just needs to move out of the way. Once learned, you can tell them "go to your bed" and they will go lay down and be content watching the action from afar.
