We are a team of dog people.

Like the members and breeders we serve, our canine companions are a constant in our lives and around the office.

We guarantee excellent service, responsiveness, and transparency.

From friendly, human operators to live chat service and streamlined registration on our website, CKC engages with members on their terms and timeline. Information about our registration requirements and business policies is published on our website.

We do things differently than other registries for a reason

Many distinctions set CKC apart from other clubs. We pride ourselves on being a breeder-friendly, no-nonsense registry with affordable pricing. We also empower our teams to rethink traditional registration policies, which have revolutionized registration for modern dog owners and breeders and continues to improve the health of pure breeds.

Our breed standards produce healthier dogs.

CKC's official and proprietary breed standards encourage genetic diversity and place a higher emphasis on breed health than on aesthetic conformity.

We support passionate, educated dog breeders.

Breeders registering with CKC are held to high standards as part of our shared commitment to produce happy, healthy puppies.

We educate the next generation of dog people and professionals.

CKC develops and distributes the Canine Care & Training Program (CCTP), an accredited curriculum that brings hands-on dog education to classrooms across the country and prepares students for careers in the pet industry.

We do not support breed-specific legislation that prohibits ownership of a particular breed(s).

While perhaps well-intended, many of these laws and ordinances do nothing more than restrict and/or prohibit ownership of specific breeds, without any scientific or fact-based grounds to do so. Breeds are seemingly added and/or removed from restriction lists according to the subjective (and somewhat arbitrary) opinions of lawmakers who lack the education and/or experience necessary to make such determinations.

We do not support legislation that infringes upon the rights of responsible breeders to do business.

OUR TAKE

Member Benefits

Established more than 30 years ago, Continental Kennel Club continues to offer a more user-friendly, affordable, and inclusive registry for breeders, dog owners, and enthusiasts. As one of the top three largest kennel clubs, we provide superior services, including low-cost litter registration, a quick five (5) business day turnaround on most paperwork, and access to our Ages and Stages video training series. CKC offers a unique opportunity for the consideration of registration of purebred canines with undocumented ancestry through our PAW (Picture and Witness) program. All registry organizations maintain and produce the same types of records. Hence, using any one of them is a personal preference depending upon the availability of services to meet the customers’ needs.

Putting Puppies First

Over the years, we’ve encountered some misconceptions about our response to and affiliation with puppy mills. We feel it best to address those here. CKC does not condone or promote “puppy mills.” A more significant part of our membership consists of individual hobby breeders, not large commercial breeding operations. Most members’ accounts denote an “individual” status, meaning that they have fewer than eight dogs registered with us. Continental Kennel Club has strict registration rules and policies, which we adhere to and universally enforce among our members. In instances where a puppy buyer or concerned third party has questions regarding the animal husbandry practices of a member, we begin an immediate investigation and employ our Breeder Code of Ethics as a measuring stick. CKC expects that all members will follow the policies and guidelines of local and state laws regarding the proper care and housing of canines in their possession. We implore any person who may have concerns regarding any CKC member involved in matters of animal abuse or neglect to contact local authorities. We reserve the right to refuse registration to any person convicted of a crime of cruelty to animals in any state, province, territory, or country or who acts in a manner we deem unethical, fraudulent, or dishonest.
