Central and South America are well-known for their many hairless dogs. These dogs are believed to be descended from the same ancestral dogs owned by the Incan Empire.

The Kooikerhondje was developed in the 16th century as a tolling dog. The Kooikerhondje resembles many other spaniels and retrievers in the Gun Dog class. However, their "hunting" tactics are unlike any other dog in the Gun Dog category.

Alaskan Malamutes were said to be bred by a nomadic Inuit tribe, the Mahlemut tribe, and spread to the North and South around Kotzebue Sound in Alaska due to people traveling where food and resources were most plentiful in the harsh environment.

The Majestic Tree Hound (or Majestic, as it is known) is a relatively new breed designation for an old hunting dog. The Majestics share common ancestry with modern-day Coonhounds and, in fact, part of their lineage includes English Coonhound.

The Harlequin Pinscher and the Miniature Pinscher share a common ancestor. The exact origin is not completely known, but like all of the other breeds in the Pinscher and Schnauzer group, they can be traced back to Germany. It is there that their ancestors worked as ratters for centuries.
