How to Write the Perfect Pet Resume for Renting the Property of Your Dreams

Moving into a new home can be an exciting time for all of us. Usually, it signals the start of a new chapter in our lives and one where the whole family can sample new opportunities and enjoy a new adventure. Well, hopefully, all the family.

When it comes to moving to a new house, some properties are a little doubtful or careful in regard to pets. Some properties ban them completely, some don’t mind, and some will want proof to make sure their property is well looked after.

One of the best ways to do this is by writing a pet resume for your future landlord to read through, making sure all the boxes are ticked, and they’ll be happy to have you and your pet move into your new home.

Not sure where to begin? Don’t worry, here’s everything you need to know!

Include a Photo

One of the first things you’ll want to remember to include in your pet’s resume is a photograph. Be sure to pick the cutest one you can because this will give the landlord their first impression of what your pet is like. In short, you don’t want one where your pet is snarling at the camera.

Personal Information

As you would with a normal job resume, you’ll want to include the personal information about your pet. Typically, you’ll want to include their name (being sure to miss out any “vicious-sounding” words) and their age, so your landlord can get a rough idea on the type of pet you have.

Size & Weight

“This section of the pet resume is super important. If you’re moving into a tiny one-bedroom apartment and you own a huge St. Bernard that simply isn’t going to fit into the apartment itself, this is something your landlord needs to know,” shares Duncan Winter, a writer for EliteAssignmentHelp.

Training Information

This may not be so relevant if you own a fish or a guinea pig, but if you own a cat or a dog, it’s essential that you include information on how well-trained these pets are. Are they toilet trained? Will they go outside? Will they scratch or bite anything on the property? Has your pet been through any behavioural courses? Include all the answers in the resume.

Perfect Your Pet Resume

When it comes to finalising all the details of your pet resume, it’s a good idea to make sure everything is perfect. A resume of mistakes can turn a potential landlord away. Here are some tools that can help:

Your Information

One of the most important things that pet owners forget to include their own contact information! If you forget, how is your landlord supposed to get hold of you if they have any questions?

Be sure to include your name, phone number and email address, just to make sure.
