Description: At first glance, it may not look like a dog, but the Chinese Crested can hold its own in the dog world. This unique breed has captured the hearts of many as an affectionate, playful dog. It is a joy to be around and is great with other dogs and children. This breed comes in two varieties; the most commonly known hairless variety, and the powder puff, which has a thick, double coat of hair. The hairless variety has soft, smooth skin, which must be protected from the elements (sunscreen in the sun, sweaters in the cold), and it wouldn’t hurt to apply a moisturizer after baths. It comes in a variety of colors from a flesh color, to a black, mottled color.

Be prepared to have this little guy with you for a long while, as it has a lifespan of up to 15 years. It has minimal health problems that would cause a vet trip. Other than sunburn, dry skin, pimples, or rashes, this breed is known to have poor dentition or missing teeth, and is prone to tooth decay. But with proper care and nutrition, your Chinese Crested should live a healthy and happy life.
